СМИ высказывают предположения, что одной из причин отказа прокуратуры от преследования является то, что основная масса доказательств приходится на показания соратника конгрессмена Joel Greenberg, который был недавно приговорен к 11 годам лишения свободы, а доверия к такому свидетелю минимально.
Сам представитель с самого начала отрицал свою вину и называл преследование политически мотивированным.

Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. These administrators had built substantial positions in these scrips prior to the circulation of recommendations and offloaded their positions subsequent to rise in price of these scrips, making significant profits at the expense of unsuspecting investors, Sebi noted. At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal.
