В книжном магазине «Фаланстер» прошла презентация книги «Циммервальдская альтернатива» (Черный квадрат, 2024), вышедшей к 110-й годовщине начала Первой мировой войны. Составители и редакторы сборника Алексей и Юлия Гусева, историки Дмитрий Рублев и Ярослав Леонтьев рассказали о книге и драматической истории антивоенного движения этого периода. (Презентация, кстати, прошла 11 сентября, в годовщину чудовищного расстрела политзаключенных Орловской тюрьмы в 1941 г., унесшего жизни многих бывших циммервальдистов.)
В ближайшее время мы опубликуем аудиозапись презентации.
А пока – теплый ламповый фоторепортаж из «Фаланстера».

'Wild West' Telegram was co-founded by Pavel and Nikolai Durov, the brothers who had previously created VKontakte. VK is Russia’s equivalent of Facebook, a social network used for public and private messaging, audio and video sharing as well as online gaming. In January, SimpleWeb reported that VK was Russia’s fourth most-visited website, after Yandex, YouTube and Google’s Russian-language homepage. In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” Messages are not fully encrypted by default. That means the company could, in theory, access the content of the messages, or be forced to hand over the data at the request of a government. In February 2014, the Ukrainian people ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, prompting Russia to invade and annex the Crimean peninsula. By the start of April, Pavel Durov had given his notice, with TechCrunch saying at the time that the CEO had resisted pressure to suppress pages criticizing the Russian government. A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts.
