عن علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه قال: قال لي رَسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عليه وَسَلَّمَ: قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي، وَاذْكُرْ بالهُدَى هِدَايَتَكَ الطَّرِيقَ، وَالسَّدَادِ سَدَادَ السَّهْمِ.
فالهُدَى: هو المَعرفةُ بالحقِّ تَفْصيلًا وإجْمالًا، والتَّوفيقُ لاتِّباعِه ظاهِرًا وباطِنًا. والسَّدادُ: هو التَّوفيقُ والاستقامةُ في جميعِ الأُمورِ بما يكونُ صَوابًا على الحقِّ، وهو الطَّريقُ المُستَقيمُ في القَولِ والفِعلِ والاعتِقادِ.
