It's been over a year since Bez joined forces of resistance himself, and now his newly formed unit needs your help.
Here is what Bez wrote to us:
‘Hello, I'm Bez, an anarchist who has been helping anti-authoritarian fighters at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. For more than a year now, I myself have been fighting in the Defence Forces. I just joined the newly created unit to counter enemy UAVs. Even though our team is new, we are already performing combat missions in Donetsk region. But as is the case with new units, we lack a lot of things. Most of all, we need the pick-up truck. We need your support - help us save lives!’
So, without delay, we are launching a fundraising campaign for 10,000 euros. We ask for your support.

Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. Groups are also not fully encrypted, end-to-end. This includes private groups. Private groups cannot be seen by other Telegram users, but Telegram itself can see the groups and all of the communications that you have in them. All of the same risks and warnings about channels can be applied to groups. At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. "He has kind of an old-school cyber-libertarian world view where technology is there to set you free," Maréchal said. "Like the bombing of the maternity ward in Mariupol," he said, "Even before it hits the news, you see the videos on the Telegram channels."
