Jayden "Jay" Greig alias Dave from from Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Dave’ served in the Australian Defense Forces in 2014-2021 as an infantry soldier in the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment. After leaving the military, Dave went to Ukraine and enlisted to serve in the Chosen Company, which is made up of foreign fighters.

He went to Ukraine some time in 2023 where he joined Chosen Company under 59th Ukrainian brigade. He started at the bottom, but moved up until he reached Squad Leader.

When we posted about the death of Joel Benjamin Stremski in November 2023 during the battle of Avdeevka, we mistook Stremski for Jay because, as we later learned, he was severely wounded by mortar fire and left his equipment behind.

Dave suffered severe injuries from shrapnel caused by the blast. He got shrapnel in his legs, hand, face, and sinus. He also got a hole in his face below his eye. His left hand took one piece of shrapnel through it and he got his ulnar nerve damaged. He had four fasciotomies done on his leg.

There are rumors that Jay may be involved in the execution of Russian soldiers as reported by The New York Times.

On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. He urged users to be mistrustful of the things shared on Channels, and initially threatened to block the feature in the countries involved for the length of the war, saying that he didn’t want Telegram to be used to aggravate conflict or incite ethnic hatred. He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations. If you initiate a Secret Chat, however, then these communications are end-to-end encrypted and are tied to the device you are using. That means it’s less convenient to access them across multiple platforms, but you are at far less risk of snooping. Back in the day, Secret Chats received some praise from the EFF, but the fact that its standard system isn’t as secure earned it some criticism. If you’re looking for something that is considered more reliable by privacy advocates, then Signal is the EFF’s preferred platform, although that too is not without some caveats. I want a secure messaging app, should I use Telegram? In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. For tech stocks, “the main thing is yields,” Essaye said.
