В середине февраля 2022 года отправился в Донецк, где и застал начало специальной военной операции. В «Аргументы и факты» пришел летом 2022 года в качестве военного корреспондента и принял решение уехать жить в Донецк. С тех пор освещает ход ведения СВО и мирную жизнь на вернувшихся в состав России территориях.
