🇺🇸 100 лет назад, 27 января 1925 года, стартовала Великая гонка милосердия на Аляске.
Там в городе Ном среди детей вспыхнула эпидемия дифтерии.
Противодифтерийная сыворотка имелась, но далеко от Нома, более, чем в 1000 км.
Единственным способом доставить её в город и спасти детей оказались собачьи упряжки.

Путь в 1085 км был преодолен всего за 5,5 дней.
Самая большая слава досталась хаски Балто, который возглавлял упряжку на финальном участке.
Но самый большой вклад внесла и самый большой участок пути (146 км) прошла упряжка другого хаски, Того.

На момент гонки Того шёл уже 12-й год, и его хозяин, знаменитый заводчик Сеппала, боялся, что пёс не выдержит.
Того не только выдержал, но и нашёл дорогу в диком буране, спас от смерти самого Сеппалу и, главное, обеспечил передачу сыворотки дальше по эстафете.
