Упала ночь почти без сумерек
Чернильным мраком на деревья.
Она прохладней, чем мы думали,
Тревожней, чем на самом деле.

Коварный ветер треплет волосы
И режет двор в диагонали.
Все просто. Наступила осень
Когда её совсем не ждали.

Она уже не притворяется
Достойным продолженьем лета,
Бесстыдно переодевая всех
В одежду пасмурного цвета.

И рвет с деревьев листья бурые,
И мечет с неба капли-иглы.
Она грубее, чем мы думали.
И небо ниже, чем привыкли.

Затихли лестница и комнаты,
Скучает парк, стучат ворота.
И скрежет радиоприемника —
Обрывки летнего чего-то.

А утром, словно строгий памятник
Тому, кого никто не знает,
Луч солнца, как фальшивый праведник,
Своей бессмысленностью манит.

Добавив золота и проседи
Дворам и улицам столичным,
Шла осень. Ночью. Зимней поступью.
Днем не поймать её с поличным…
