По данным МВД России, в республике в 2024 году было зарегистрировано более 154 преступлений на 10 тысяч жителей, что на 20,8% больше, чем в 2023 году. Увеличилось и количество особо тяжких и особо тяжких преступлений: около 44 случаев на 10 тысяч жителей, что на 8,5% больше, чем зафиксировано в прошлогодней статистике.
В общем рейтинге регионов России по уровню преступностиОсетия заняла 54 место.
Лидером рейтинга, как и в прошлом году, стала Чечня: здесь в 2024 году зарегистрировано всего 17 преступлений на 10 тысяч жителей. Вторую и третью строчки занимают Ингушетия — 37 преступлений — и Дагестан — 43 преступления. В хвосте списка оказались Карелия, Ненецкий автономный округ и Алтай, где в 2024 году было зарегистрировано более 200 преступлений на 10 тысяч жителей.

Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. Following this, Sebi, in an order passed in January 2022, established that the administrators of a Telegram channel having a large subscriber base enticed the subscribers to act upon recommendations that were circulated by those administrators on the channel, leading to significant price and volume impact in various scrips. The channel appears to be part of the broader information war that has developed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin has paid Russian TikTok influencers to push propaganda, according to a Vice News investigation, while ProPublica found that fake Russian fact check videos had been viewed over a million times on Telegram. The company maintains that it cannot act against individual or group chats, which are “private amongst their participants,” but it will respond to requests in relation to sticker sets, channels and bots which are publicly available. During the invasion of Ukraine, Pavel Durov has wrestled with this issue a lot more prominently than he has before. Channels like Donbass Insider and Bellum Acta, as reported by Foreign Policy, started pumping out pro-Russian propaganda as the invasion began. So much so that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council issued a statement labeling which accounts are Russian-backed. Ukrainian officials, in potential violation of the Geneva Convention, have shared imagery of dead and captured Russian soldiers on the platform. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders.
