زنان تاجیک آن را در مراسم شادی مانند نوروز یا مهمانی‌هایی مانند عروسی می‌پوشند. عروس هم تا ۴۰ روز پس از عروسی در خانه چکن می‌پوشد.
پارچۀ زمینۀ آن پنبه‌ای‌ست و نقش و نگار آن که کار دست است و هر نقشش نماد عنصری در طبیعت، با ابریشم است. جنس و زحمت دوختن، لباس را گران‌قیمت می‌کند. برخی دوایر که بر روی چکن می‌بینیم نماد خورشیدند.
معمولا برخی زنان تاجیک در خانۀ یکدیگر جمع می‌شوند و در حالی که با هم گپ می‌زنند و شعر می‌خوانند چکن‌دوزی میکنند. چکن‌دوزی درآمد خوبی دارد. معمولا برای فروش و گاهی هم برای خودشان چکن می‌دوزند.
امروزه طراحان حرفه‌ای مد هم برای طراحی چکن پیدا شده‌اند مانند خورشید ستار که یک هنرمند تاجیک است.
چکن واژه‌ای اوستایی به معنی زردوزی است.
تاجیک‌ها در نمایشگاههایی در کشورهای دیگر چکن را معرفی میکنند و در برخی کشورهای دیگر هم طرفداران خود را پیدا کرده است.

Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. The War on Fakes channel has repeatedly attempted to push conspiracies that footage from Ukraine is somehow being falsified. One post on the channel from February 24 claimed without evidence that a widely viewed photo of a Ukrainian woman injured in an airstrike in the city of Chuhuiv was doctored and that the woman was seen in a different photo days later without injuries. The post, which has over 600,000 views, also baselessly claimed that the woman's blood was actually makeup or grape juice.
