В Сухуме начались масштабные протесты после задержания восьми оппозиционных политиков, выступавших против ратификации соглашения с Россией. Акция началась у здания Службы государственной безопасности (СГБ) Абхазии, где собрались десятки протестующих, требующих освобождения задержанных. Очевидцы сообщают о стычках с полицией, один из демонстрантов протаранил ворота СГБ автомобилем.

Позже протестующие переместились на Площадь свободы, перекрыв Гуминистинский мост. Сообщается, что к президентской администрации стягивается военная техника.

"The argument from Telegram is, 'You should trust us because we tell you that we're trustworthy,'" Maréchal said. "It's really in the eye of the beholder whether that's something you want to buy into."
