Last week, from February 19th to 21st, spring came to life in Russian House in Valletta! Participants of the "Spring Expression of Color" workshops dove into the world of painting, creating vibrant and inspiring representations of spring flowers. Daffodils, tulips, snowdrops, and blooming apple branches – each piece captured the tenderness and beauty of the new season.
The workshops were held in a warm, friendly atmosphere, allowing everyone to tap into their creativity and bring their ideas to life on canvas.

Мастер-класс по акриловой живописи «Золотые паруса» состоялся в Русском доме в Валлетте 22 февраля.
Работая кистями и мастихином участники создали морской пейзаж: в золотой час перед закатом едва различимы на волнах силуэты парусных суден. Для этой работы не понадобилось делать наброска, картины рождались в технике алла прима, смелыми мазками, а выбор цветов отражал скорее настроение, чем привычную реальность.
Для многих гостей Русского дома это был первый опыт живописи мастихином, и начинающие маринисты осваивали технику находу. Процессом и результатом остались, тем не менее, довольны все - и участники мастер-класса и наш педагог.

The acrylic painting masterclass "Golden Sails" took place in Russian House in Valletta on February 22.
Using brushes and a palette knife, participants created a seascape capturing the golden hour before sunset, where the silhouettes of sailing ships could be seen drifting on the waves. There was no need for a preliminary sketch—paintings took shape spontaneously using the alla prima technique, with bold, expressive strokes. The choice of colors was guided more by emotion than by strict realism.
For many guests, this was their first time working with a palette knife, and they picked up the technique as they went along. Both the participants and the instructor were delighted with the process and the final results.
