Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. Lastly, the web previews of t.me links have been given a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-features Telegram Web client. The account, "War on Fakes," was created on February 24, the same day Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" and troops began invading Ukraine. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
