❗️According to the Times of Israel, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz says that Israel will maintain strict security control over Gaza, signaling its intention to continue enforcing buffer zones and retaining strategic positions.
Katz delivers these remarks while visiting the Philadelphi Corridor, a contentious strip of land on Gaza's border with Egypt where Israeli authorities claim the presence of troops is necessary to block smuggling between the Sinai and the Strip. During the visit, he met with military commanders and was briefed on the situation, per the Israeli Defense Ministry.
“We will ensure that security control is in the hands of the IDF, which will be authorized to act anywhere to prevent threats,” Katz states, according to an Israeli Defense Ministry statement.
“We will make sure there are security zones, buffer zones and strategic posts which will ensure the security of towns,” he adds, “There will be no Hamas rule, and no Hamas military. We will create a new reality here, thanks to the daily fighting, which is continuing even now.”
