В этот день принято чествовать пчеловодов и их труд. Пчеловоды всегда выбирали улей с самым богатым урожаем, вынимали из него соты и несли их в церковь на освящение.
Часть освящённого мёда пасечник оставлял себе, часть — в качестве подношения священникам.
