Вечером 27 февраля в полицию Санкт-Петербурга обратился 46-летний предприниматель Алексей Горячев. Он сообщил, что из его машины, которая стояла на паркинге элитного ЖК «Смольный парк» пропала сумка с деньгами. При этом в краже он заподозрил своего водителя, 47-летнего Сергея Ершова — именно у него был второй комплект ключей от машины.
Сотрудники полиции объявили в розыск Ершова, и вскоре он был задержан на трассе «Кола». Он ехал на машине отца в сторону Мурманска. При себе у Ершова лежала сумка с 65 миллионами рублей.
Алексей Горячев — бывший замглавы «Ленэнерго». в декабре 2023 года он был приговорён к 2,5 года колонии по статьям «Мошенничество в особо крупном размере» и «Отмывание денежных средств». Общий ущерб тогда составил около 300 миллионов рублей.

He said that since his platform does not have the capacity to check all channels, it may restrict some in Russia and Ukraine "for the duration of the conflict," but then reversed course hours later after many users complained that Telegram was an important source of information. One post on the channel from February 24 claimed without evidence that a widely viewed photo of a Ukrainian woman injured in an airstrike in the city of Chuhuiv was doctored and that the woman was seen in a different photo days later without injuries. The post, which has over 600,000 views, also baselessly claimed that the woman's blood was actually makeup or grape juice. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. DFR Lab sent the image through Microsoft Azure's Face Verification program and found that it was "highly unlikely" that the person in the second photo was the same as the first woman. The fact-checker Logically AI also found the claim to be false. The woman, Olena Kurilo, was also captured in a video after the airstrike and shown to have the injuries.
