In Göttingen sind am Samstag drei Blindgänger aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kontrolliert gesprengt worden. Die im Boden in der Nähe des Bahnhofs gefundenen Bomben hatten laut Stadt Langzeitzünder und konnten deshalb nicht entschärft werden.
Rund 11.000 Menschen mussten demnach am frühen Morgen im Umkreis von rund einem Kilometer um den Fundort ihre Wohnungen verlassen. Am Abend wurde das Sperrgebiet wieder aufgehoben.
Eine Videoaufnahme der Detonation zeigt, wie eine Staubfontäne in die Höhe schießt. Die Druckwelle der Sprengung war den Angaben zufolge in weiten Teilen der Stadt zu spüren. Personen kamen dabei nicht zu Schaden.
