💁🏼‍♂️Глеб Пилипенко, исследователь и историк, приглашает нас на встречу с интереснейшим миром славянских диаспор в странах Южной Америки (Аргентине, Уругвае, Парагвае, Чили). Компактные поселениях русских, белорусов, черногорцев, поляков и других славянских народов существуют в этих странах уже более ста лет. Автор курса познакомит слушателей с материалами собственных полевых исследований, расскажет об истории возникновения диаспор, о воздействии испанского языка на языки славян, а также о влиянии славянских языков на испанский. Слушатели курса узнают о диалоге местных обычаев и традиций (в том числе кулинарных) с культурой славян. Мы услышим, как говорят и поют на славянских языках потомки переселенцев третьего и четвертого поколения, а также увидим, как они танцуют.

💁🏻‍♀️Os invitamos a un encuentro con el sorprendente mundo de las diásporas eslavas en los países de América del Sur (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile). Poblaciones compactas de rusos, bielorrusos, montenegrinos, polacos y otros pueblos eslavos llevan ya más de cien años de historia en estos países. El autor del curso presentará a los participantes los resultados de sus propias investigaciones de campo, explicará los procesos de formación de estas diásporas y la influencia mutua del español y las lenguas eslavas en estas comunidades. Conoceremos el diálogo creado entre las tradiciones locales (entre ellas las culinarias) y las culturas eslavas. Escucharemos cómo hablan y cantan en lenguas eslavas los descendientes de los emigrantes de tercera y cuarta generación y también veremos sus danzas.

Telegram has gained a reputation as the “secure” communications app in the post-Soviet states, but whenever you make choices about your digital security, it’s important to start by asking yourself, “What exactly am I securing? And who am I securing it from?” These questions should inform your decisions about whether you are using the right tool or platform for your digital security needs. Telegram is certainly not the most secure messaging app on the market right now. Its security model requires users to place a great deal of trust in Telegram’s ability to protect user data. For some users, this may be good enough for now. For others, it may be wiser to move to a different platform for certain kinds of high-risk communications. In February 2014, the Ukrainian people ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, prompting Russia to invade and annex the Crimean peninsula. By the start of April, Pavel Durov had given his notice, with TechCrunch saying at the time that the CEO had resisted pressure to suppress pages criticizing the Russian government. The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but it’s hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Similarly, on April 17th, the Moscow Times quoted Durov as saying that he quit the company after being pressured to reveal account details about Ukrainians protesting the then-president Viktor Yanukovych. Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read." Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores.
