Изначально, задуманный в виде отеля-санатория, комплекс именовался просто — санаторий №7. В 1959 году институт получает имя знакомое многим сочинцам — Сочинский научно-исследовательский институт курортологии и физиотерапии.
В конце девяностых институт был опять реорганизован в Научно-исследовательский центр курортологии и реабилитации.
У здания с июля 2019 новый владелец, вроде как даже что-то пытаются с ним сделать.

Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so.
