جیک سالیوان، مشاور امنیت ملی کاخ‌سفید به شدت از سرکوب معترضان در ایران انتقاد کرده است.
آقای سالیوان دوشنبه با اشاره به کشتار معترضان در ایران، از اطلاق واژه «مگس» به معترضان از سوی ابراهیم رییسی نیز انتقاد کرد.
آقای سالیوان در توییتر نوشت: «دنیا ناظر رخدادهای ایران است. در روزهای آخر هفته، معترضان بی‌گناه، شامل یک زن جوان، هدف قرار گرفتند و کشته شدند. رییس‌جمهوری ایران هم تظاهرکنندگان را به مگس تشبیه کرده است.»
او در ادامه از حمایت آمریکا از معترضان ایرانی خبر داد.

به گفته آقای سالیوان، ایالات متحده کسانی را که برای ساکت کردن معترضان دست به سرکوب می زنند را مسوول خشونت‌ها می‌داند.
