Возвышенность названа в память о смутьяне Афанасии Матюшенко. До 1935 года местность называли гора Рудольфа или просто Рудгора, Рудошка. Известно, что в начале XIX века немец Рудольф Готлиб владел здесь хутором. А вот кто он был и чем занимался — неизвестно. Часть своих земель Готлиб, по просьбе городских властей, уступил для обустройства православного кладбища.

В начале ХХ века его потомки стали распродавать имение по частям. В результате образовалась Рудольфова слободка.

До войны название «Матюшенко», «Матюха» употреблялось нечасто. А уже после нее полностью вытеснило прежний топоним.

Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
