Он стал преемником академика РАН Владимира Дегтяря, более четверти века занимавшего должность генерального директора, генерального конструктора предприятия, ныне назначенного на должность научного руководителя АО "ГРЦ Макеева".
Голунов - уроженец Челябинской области. Он родился 23 июля 1983 года. После окончания Челябинского государственного университета с 2005 г. работает в АО "ГРЦ Макеева". Прошел путь от математика, начальника отдела до первого заместителя генерального конструктора.
