В сентябре этого года город заключил концессионное соглашение с компаний «Экологические проекты», должны быть выпущены 170 трамваев, в том числе 26 трехсекционных. О планах получить первый трамвай уже в этом году губернатор Нижегородской области Глеб Никитин заявлял в конце ноября.
Как сообщает Глеб Никитин в своем Telegram-канале, машина получила название «МиНиН» (Минск + Нижний Новгород), облик и интерьер разработаны специально для города. Губернатор отмечает, что более 90% комплектующих произведены в России и Беларуси. На полной мощности на площадке в Ворсме планирует создать около 500 рабочих мест.
