В День дипломатического работника сотрудники Генконсульства и представители Русского дома в Александрии провели традиционную памятную акцию и возложили цветы к могилам последнего консула Российской Империи Александра Михайловича Петрова (1876-1946), а также дипломата, поэта и переводчика Ивана Павловича Умова (1883-1961), служившего здесь вице-консулом. Присутствовавшие также почтили память других выходцев из императорской России, которые покоятся в православной части местного кладбища Шетби.
