من به شدت نگران هستم که ابتلای یک کودک ۱۰ ماهه واکسینه نشده به فلج اطفال، تایید شده است و این، اولین مورد در غزه در ۲۵ سال گذشته است.
توالی یابی ژنومی انجام شده تایید کرده است که این مورد با ویروس فلج اطفال نوع ۲ که در نمونه‌های فاضلاب غزه در ماه ژوئن شناسایی شده بود، مرتبط است.
در حال حاضر کودک که از قسمت پایین پای چپش فلج شده بود، در وضعیت پایدار به سر می برد.
با توجه به خطر بالای انتشار ویروس فلج اطفال در غزه و منطقه، وزارت بهداشت فلسطین، سازمان بهداشت جهانی و یونیسف، در حال تلاش برای اجرای دو دور واکسیناسیون فلج اطفال در هفته های آینده برای توقف انتقال این ویروس هستند.
