Отечественные материалы для силовых композитных конструкций разработаны при участии учёных МГУ и предприятий "Росатома". Консоли крыла и центроплан МС-21-300 производятся на предприятии "АэроКомпозит-Ульяновск". При производстве крыла применяется технология вакуумной инфузии, запатентованная в России.
Использование прочных и лёгких композитов позволило конструкторам сделать крыло большого удлинения и улучшить аэродинамику самолёта одновременно с увеличением диаметра фюзеляжа.
