﴿وٱلذین یُؤذون ٱلمؤمنین وٱلمؤمنـٰت بغیر ما ٱكتسبوا فقد ٱحتملوا بهتـٰنا وإثما مبینا﴾
عن قتادة قال: إيّاكم وأذى المؤمن؛ فإنَّ الله يحوطه ويغضبُ له. وقد زعموا: أنّ عمر بن الخطاب قرأها ذاتَ يومٍ، فأفزعه ذلك، حتى ذهب إلى أُبَيّ بن كعب، فدخل عليه فقال: يا أبا المنذر، إنِّي قرأتُ آيةً مِن كتاب الله تعالى فوقعت مِنِّي كل موقع: ﴿والَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ المُؤْمِنِينَ والمُؤْمِناتِ﴾، واللهِ إنِّي لأعاقبهم وأضربهم. فقال له: إنّك لست منهم، إنما أنت مُؤدِّب، إنما أنت مُعَلِّم.
