Павел Алексеевич Пудофеев родился 25 мая 1923 года в с.Церковные Салманы Спасского кантона ТатАССР (ныне с.Салманы Алькеевского района РТ).
В марте 1942 года был призван в Красную Армию по мобилизации. Курсант Арзамасского пехотного училища. В мае–декабре 1942 года участвовал в боях на Воронежском фронте.
В 1942–1944 годах курсант 2-го Саратовского танкового училища. Гвардии младший лейтенант, командир танка Т-34 и ИС роты управления 106-го гвардейского танкового полка 7-й отдельной гвардейской танковой Новгородской бригады 14-й Армии.
