В Ираке при ударе ВВС США по машине в г. Багдад погибли один из руководителей "Катаиб Хезболлы" Абу Бакир Ас-Саади и полевой командир группировки Аркан Аль-Аляви. В Пентагоне заявили, что оба были ответственны за обстрелы американских военных объектов в Ираке и Сирии. Ас-Саади, к тому же, считался одним из приближенных высокопоставленного лидера шиитского ополчения "Хашд Аш-Шааби" Абу Махди Аль-Мухандиса, который погиб вместе Касемом Сулеймани при ударе БПЛА ВВС США в 2020 году.

Также американцы разбомбили два склада с вооружением "Хашд Аш-Шааби" в окрестностях г. Багдад. Удары были нанесены в рамках ответа на гибель трех военнослужащих в Иордании.

Власти Ирака и минобороны страны раскритиковали действия США. Командующий ВС назвал американские удары безответственными и подрывающими договоренности и двухстороннее сотрудничество.

Проиранские группировки пообещали отомстить США за удары по руководству "Катаиб Хезболлы".
