История Новосибирского государственного педагогического университета началась 29 ноября 1935 года. Тогда постановлением Президиума Западно-Сибирского краевого исполнительного комитета был открыт вечерний городской педагогический институт в Новосибирске. К первому учебному году он насчитывал 4 факультета: исторический, математический, естественный и литературный, на которые набрали 109 студентов.

In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation."
