Постановление об этом подписал губернатор Алексей Текслер. Митяев – уроженец Челябинской области. При поддержке музыканта в Миассе ежегодно проходит Ильменский фестиваль авторской песни. Он также стал автором и ведущим премии «Светлое прошлое», которая проходит в Челябинске с 2004 года.
В 2021 году Олег Митяев получил звание почётного гражданина Челябинской области за большой личный вклад в развитие культуры, выдающиеся творческие заслуги, повышение авторитета региона.
