2ТЭ35А должен стать первым магистральным тепловозом в линейке локомотивов от СТМ. В конце ноября производитель анонсировал, что в 2024 году планируется передача 7 тепловозов 2ТЭ35А для Байкало-Амурской магистрали и Тихоокеанской железной дороги.
