Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. "This time we received the coordinates of enemy vehicles marked 'V' in Kyiv region," it added. He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea. False news often spreads via public groups, or chats, with potentially fatal effects.
