По словам руководителя Центра по примирению враждующих сторон генерал-майора Алексея Бакина, боевики дистанционно подорвали СВУ на пути следования конвоя с российскими военными. При взрыве никто из российских военнослужащих не пострадал. Также подтвержден факт обеспечения дополнительной безопасности после инцидента.
По мнению Бакина, этим действием боевики хотели обострить ситуацию в регионе.
