В августе приходит русский холод,
Проступает из костей земли.
Где-то у небесного престола
Клином пролетают журавли.

Ночью ясно, холодно и сухо,
В лунном свете отступает мгла.
Умирает тощая старуха
На краю разбитого села.

Кажется ей: пахнет словно прежде,
Свежим хлебом, жарко, горячо.
Со двора заходит Леня Брежнев
И кладет ей руку на плечо.

И пока что не в руинах школа,
И пока не рухнула страна.
В августе приходит русский холод,
Но не прекращается война.

Позывные мечутся в эфире,
Тепловизор ищет след тепла.
Мертвый Брежнев говорит о мире
На краю разбитого села.

И старуха, жёлтая как свечка,
Покидает дряхлую кровать,
Сходит, словно девочка, с крылечка,
И уходит в небо забывать.
