Перед вами один из самых быстрых пульсаров нашей галактики — PSR B2224+65. Он находится в созвездии Цефея и движется со скоростью 1500 км/с. Пролетая через облака водорода, пульсар формирует туманность, очертания которой напоминают гитару.
На конце «грифа гитары» видна ярко-красная точка — это сам пульсар. От него исходит длинная красная линия длиной 2 световых года. Это поток электронов и позитронов, взаимодействие которых создает рентгеновское и гамма-излучение. Эти частицы рождаются вблизи нейтронной звезды под воздействием её мощного магнитного поля и быстрого вращения.
Таймлапс был создан с помощью космических телескопов Хаббл и Чандра, наблюдавших за пульсаром с 1994 по 2021 год.
