25 лет назад, в ночь с 29 февраля на 1 марта 2000 года, в Аргунском ущелье на высоте 776.0 в жестоком неравном бою с чеченскими боевиками погибла почти вся 6-я рота 2-го батальона 104-го полка Псковской дивизии ВДВ.
Бой длился 19 часов. 90 рядовых и офицеров в течении дня сдерживали многонациональные банды из 2500 ичкерийских террористов.
На помощь 6-ой роте, нарушая приказ, отправился майор Доставалов и взвод бойцов 4-ой роты. Капитан Романов, принявший командование ротой после гибели подполковника Евтюхина, вызвал на себя огонь артиллерии, которая накрыла высоту.
84 десантника героически погибли на 776 высоте. Более 500 ваххабитов просто сдохли.
За проявленное мужество 22 военнослужащим было присвоено звание Героя России, 69 солдат и офицеров награждены орденами Мужества, 63 из них – посмертно.
