Großes Interesse gab es am Mittwoch an unserer Veranstaltung zu den Themen Zensur, Debanking und Repression. Der Dank gilt besonders allen Medienvertretern von Compact, Info-Direkt, Auf1, Freilich und Report 24, die vor Ort waren, um über ihre Erfahrungen mit der Unterdrückung freier Berichterstattung zu erzählen sowie meiner Kollegin und Mitveranstalterin Petra Stegers (FPÖ).

In the United States, Telegram's lower public profile has helped it mostly avoid high level scrutiny from Congress, but it has not gone unnoticed. As a result, the pandemic saw many newcomers to Telegram, including prominent anti-vaccine activists who used the app's hands-off approach to share false information on shots, a study from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue shows. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. Lastly, the web previews of t.me links have been given a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-features Telegram Web client.
