﴿وتَوَلّى عَنْهم وقالَ ياأسَفى عَلى يُوسُفَ﴾ إنّ الحزن الجديد يقوّي الحزن القديم الكامن، والقِدحُ إذا وقعَ على القِدح كان أوجع. قال مُتَمِّمُ بن نُوَيرَة: وقد لامَني عند القُبُورِ على البُكا رفيقي لتِذرافِ الدُّموعِ السَّوافِكِ
فقال أتَبكي كُلَّ قبرٍ رأيتَهُ لقَبرٍ ثَوى بينَ اللِّوى والدَّكادِكِ
وذلك لأنه إذا رأى قبرًا فتجدّد حزنُهُ على أخيه مالك فلاموه عليه، فأجاب بأن الأسى يبعث الأسى. وقال آخر: فلم تُنسني أوفى المُصيباتِ بعدَهُ ولكنّ نكءَ القَرحِ بالقَرحِ أوجَعُ.
