Подойти вплотную к хорошо укреплённому зданию сахалинцы не могли, так как на крыше дома была расположена огневая точка. Командир штурмовой группы с позывным «Мир» скрытно подобрался к зданию и огнём из ручного противотанкового гранатомета РПГ-7В уничтожил пулемётный расчёт на крыше.
