That enables users to have much more control over how long people can access what you’re sending them. Two days after Russia invaded Ukraine, an account on the Telegram messaging platform posing as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged his armed forces to surrender. "Like the bombing of the maternity ward in Mariupol," he said, "Even before it hits the news, you see the videos on the Telegram channels." Individual messages can be fully encrypted. But the user has to turn on that function. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores.
