Но с нее сделали копию, из мозаики, и вот мозаика уже дошла. Ее раскопали в Помпеях еще в XIX веке, и это знаковое такое произведение.
На картине изображен Александр Македонский, который поражает персидского царя в решительной битве. Писали, что царь Дарий выставил против греков 600 тысяч человек, сейчас опровергают, но все равно сражение было знатное, и вот его изобразили.
Казалось бы, камень и камень, что ему будет. Но ученые решили посмотреть, как мозаика вообще себя чувствует, с помощью самых современных методов. И оказалось, так себе. В XIX веке ее латали, и зря, а в древности тоже, что-то отваливалось, и поправляли, и все это видно. Заметно, как потускнели краски. Будут лечить!
