У нас в Тургеневке идет презентация сборника эссе Елены Сергеевны Холмогоровой «Недрогнувшей рукой». Глава журнала «Знамя» Сергей Чупринин: «Сегодня, во время всеобщей раздраженности написать добрую книгу - большая редкость. Но эта книга получилась доброй, и она о том, что людей соединяет». Так оно, конечно, и есть. Это эссе о смыслах, проступающих сквозь наше частное существование - отношения с близкими и друзьями, встречи с коллегами, любимым городом и загородом. Так что для меня это еще и книга о том, как противостоять хаосу, разрухе, злу - внутренним и внешним - и видеть неслучайность, ненапрасность того, что с каждым из нас происходит. Да ладно?! Да. The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but it’s hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Similarly, on April 17th, the Moscow Times quoted Durov as saying that he quit the company after being pressured to reveal account details about Ukrainians protesting the then-president Viktor Yanukovych. "Like the bombing of the maternity ward in Mariupol," he said, "Even before it hits the news, you see the videos on the Telegram channels." Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. Ukrainian forces have since put up a strong resistance to the Russian troops amid the war that has left hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including children, dead, according to the United Nations. Ukrainian and international officials have accused Russia of targeting civilian populations with shelling and bombardments. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores.
