Находящийся там морской порт является важным звеном в переработке и отправке водных биоресурсов на метрик России и на экспорт в другие страны. Именно его планируетсяпревратить в международный транспортно-логистический хаб, который будет соединять «зеленым коридором» европейские и Азиатско-Тихоокеанские рынки через Северный морской путь.
Все предложения по формированию особого экономического режима в Корсакове будут до конца года утверждены федеральным правительством, а затем начнется законотворческая работа по закреплению нового статуса Курил.
Введение преференциального режима, безусловно, даст экономический и туристический толчок для островного региона.
