Согласно внесенным в конце декабря-2022 изменениям в ЕГРЮЛ, чешская Skoda Transportation (старое название Skoda Group) теперь является единоличным владельцем компании. В сентябре «Фонтанка» сообщала, что «Синара – Транспортные Машины» (СТМ) вышла из владения «Вагонмашем» в рамках завершения работы по совместным проектам со Skoda.
ООО «Вагонмаш» было учреждено взамен банкротившемуся ЗАО «Вагонмаш» в 2011 году как совместное предприятие Skoda и Кировского завода, на мощностях которого выпускало поезда метро «НеВа» для Санкт-Петербурга. В 2019 году с планами выхода на рынки городского транспорта совместное предприятие создали Skoda и СТМ, затем российский производитель приобрел 50% уставного капитала «Вагонмаша». Сейчас же СТМ ведет такие разработки самостоятельно, представив в 2022 году образцы троллейбуса и электробуса, а также создавая собственную модель низкопольного трамвая.
