Немецкие власти наращивают сжигание угля для производства электроэнергии самыми быстрыми темпами как минимум за последние шесть лет и наравне с Турцией готовятся импортировать ископаемое топливо в следующем году.
Изначально Германия планировала постепенно отказаться от угля к 2038 году, но правящая коалиция настаивает завершить переход в 2030. Чтобы пережить нынешний энергетический кризис самим и помочь соседней Франции, страна временно возобновила работу ранее отключённых тепловых электростанций.
Ранее в Британии по той же причине, едва закрыв, снова запустили две угольных электростанции.
