In 2017, in the area of Prague Dolny Brezhany, a happening took place, during which British artist Roger Hayorns conducted a "funeral" of the Soviet military fighter MIG-21.
Dozens of spectators attended the celebration.
The plane was submerged in the grave, which was an earthen trench with the help of a lifting crane. The action was supported by the Rudolphinum art gallery, which is celebrating its hundredth exhibition.
According to gallery curator David Kopetsky, the district was chosen based on the context of the artistic campaign - there is a laser science-research center on this site, which also took part in organizing the event.
According to the curator, the happening has become a symbolic act of saying goodbye to the era, which MIG symbolizes. The aircraft hull was pre-reserved, which will allow environmental pollution to be avoided. The place will not be specifically marked, perhaps only by a QR code on a city bench.
