«Экологический мусор» — это активисты, которые опасаются, что на новом мусоросортировочном комплексе с обещанной мощностью 95 тысяч тонн в год перерабатывать будут всего 15% от общего количества привезённых туда отходов.
Рядом с комплексом планируется построить полигон мощностью 55 тысяч тонн в год и участок компостирования мощностью до 30 тысяч тонн в год. Отходы в комплекс планируют свозить из 8 районов Коми.
В 2019 года губернатор Архангельской области Игорь Орлов назвал защитников Шиеса «шелупонью» — и стал экс-губернатором.
