Роман Кутузов служил в Забайкалье начальником Окружного учебного центра в Песчанке и начальником штаба 29-й Армии. В 2020 году он принимал парад. Генерал-лейтенант награжден орденами «За заслуги перед Отчеством» IV степени с мечами, Кутузова, Мужества, Почета, «За военные заслуги», медалью «За отвагу». Он погиб 5 июня 2022 года при выполнении боевой задачи.
