Не обделил он и своих офицеров, щедро осыпая карту их именами, а так же именами придворных адмиралов и названиями победоносных битв французской армии.
Вот откуда на современных картах Приморского и Хабаровского краев, а так же Сахалинской области мы находим певучие французские названия: Терней, Де-Кастри, Дуэ, Жонкьер, Ламанон, Де-Лангль, Бернизет, Монерон, Крильон, Прево, Сюффрен, Лессепс и прочие. Все участники экспедиции погибли. В живых остался лишь один человек – Ф. Лессепс, которого Лаперуз отправил во Францию с донесениями через территорию России.
